Masked thugs leave man with fractured eye socket after daylight robbery

Masked raiders left a man with a fractured eye socket and broken nose after robbing him in broad daylight outside a Norbury bank.

The victim had just left HSBC in London Road when he was attacked from behind by two men, who searched him and made off with £40.

Both attackers ran off along Warwick Road following the robbery, which happened at about 1.40pm. They were described as wearing dark clothing and had covered their faces and heads.

DC Peter Collett, investigating, said: “This is a particularly violent attack upon an innocent member of the public going about his everyday business.

“The attack has greatly impacted on the victim, leaving him with injuries he is still receiving treatment for.”

Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened on October 19, is asked to contact Croydon CID on 020 8649 0240, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
