POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 49-year-old woman died in a car crash.
Emergency services were called on Wednesday (October 21) at around 12.30pm to Western Way, Thamesmead.
A 22-year-old man and the woman were in a Mercedes car which hit a lamppost.
The woman was declared dead at the scene while the man was taken to Kings College Hospital in London with a head injury, not thought to be serious.
He has since been released from hospital.
The man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
