Distraction burglars pose as police officers


BURGLARS pretending to be police officers carried out three distraction burglaries in the High Wycombe area last night.

In each case homeowners were shown identification by the offenders while a second person got in to the property.

It is not known if the burglaries are linked.

The first took place at about 6:45pm in New Road, Stokenchurch. The main offender is described as a white male, slim build, clean shaven, aged in their mid 20s, wearing a dark coloured woollen hat and dark jacket.

At about 8pm in Rutland Avenue, High Wycombe a man described as white, aged about 32 years old, tall and slim, with an Irish accent, scruffy and smelling of alcohol, claimed to be a police officer.

A second man, described as black, aged early 20s, tall and of medium build, was spotted in the back garden.

Then, at about 9pm in Boundary Place, Wooburn Green, someone tried to get into a house by forcing the front door and rear gate. The offender in this case is described as a white male who looked sunburnt.

The following crimes have all been reported to Thames Valley Police.

Between 10:40am and 11am on Monday 19, offenders gained entry to an insecure garden shed at a premise in Thame Road, Longwick, which contained a freezer. The freezer was opened and the door left open, but it is not believed anything was stolen. No persons were seen and it is not known if the offender was disturbed.

Between 6:30pm on Monday 19 and 7:30am on Tuesday 20, offenders gained entry to a farm building in Church End, Bledlow. A large amount of property has been stolen including a steam cleaner, a number of gas bottles, two chain saws, a welder, two air rifles and a Yamaha Quad bike. The property is believed to have been loaded into an Ifor Williams cattle trailer which was also stolen from the premises.

Between 6pm on Monday 19 and 7am on Tuesday 20, offenders gained entry to the Bucks College Campus in Kingshill Road, Terriers, by removing a fencing panel. A trailer with two John Deer petrol driven ride on mowers, together with other property was stolen.

Between 6:30pm and 8:25pm on Monday 19, offenders gained entry to a green Land Rover Discovery vehicle, by smashing the rear offside window, while parked in the Car Park at Danesfield House Hotel, Medmenham. Property including a black leather laptop bag and an Apple laptop computer, together with a full set of Calloway Golf Clubs, clothing, drivers licence and cash was stolen.

Between 8pm on Sunday 18 and 8am on Monday 19, offenders gained entry to a premise in Fennels Way, Flackwell Heath, by forcing the front door. A tidy search was made and a blue Range master double cooker together with a chrome finish cooker hood was stolen.
