Road rage after robbers steal £1,400 from delivery driver

Robbers who stole £1,400 got caught up in a road rage incident when making their getaway.

The incident happened after one of them stole from a male delivery driver outside a newsagent’s near the junction of Park Lane and Acre Lane, off Carshalton High Street.

The robber then joined another man waiting on a motorcycle nearby.

As the motorcyclists sped off and they immediately got caught up in traffic gridlocked at the same junction.

The robbers then began arguing with the female driver of a small red vehicle before turning south down Park Lane at speed.

Sutton detectives have issued an appeal for information.

A police spokesman said both men were seen moments before the robbery at the rear of a motorcycle shop in an alleyway off Park Lane.

He said police were particularly keen to find out the registration number of a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle seen at the junction at this time.

He said: “If you witnessed the incidents or took details of the registration plate of the blue and white motorcycle, contact Detective Constable Virgil Leher at Sutton CID on 020 8649 0747.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
