An 87-year-old woman was mugged yesterday (Wednesday) as she visited a Chorleywood cemetery.
The woman was attacked in the Chorleywood Lawn Cemetery, in Rickmansworth Road, at around 1.30pm, when a man pulled her to the ground.
She was approached by the man who, after a brief struggle, made off with her handbag.
He is described as white, around 6 feet tall, between 25 and 35, with short dark hair.
He was wearing jeans, a black jacket, and a white shirt.
Chief Inspector Dave Moore said: “This was a despicable and cowardly attack on a vulnerable lady who was visiting what we would all consider to be a safe and peaceful site.
“I would urge anyone who may have seen this man or knows who he is to contact police as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0845 33 00 222 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
