DOZENS of Queensbury residents were evacuated last night after a large fire on an industrial estate.

The fire broke out at around 11.50pm last night at industrial units in Honeypot Lane, and raged all night until it was brought under control at around 7am.

The fire was near to gas cylinders posing a risk of an explosion, so firefighters evacuated nearby residents and cordoned off the area.

More than 90 firefighters were called in to tackle the fire, which they managed to contain to the industrial units, stopping it spreading to a nearby care home.

Honeypot Lane is expected to remain closed for most of the rest of the day, between Cumberland Road and Kingsbury Road, for recovery work to take place. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
