Stabbing memorial defaced

3:38pm Monday 6th July 2009

FLOWERS and tributes left where a 20-year-old was stabbed to death have been defaced.

Bouquets left in memory of Jourdan Griffiths were set alight over the weekend.

One person wrote on the wall: “You set fire to a shrine? No respect at all. RIP Jourdan.”

Laura Bocking, a friend of Jourdan’s, said: “It is disgusting. They are disrespecting the dead.”

A message on a tribute page to Jourdan on social networking website Facebook said: “I don’t even know what to say.”

The 20-year-old died after being stabbed once in the chest when he answered the door at a suspected squat in Buckinghamshire House, White Hart Street, High Wycombe.

More tributes have been left at the site. It is believed Jourdan, from the Amersham Hill area, was visiting friends.

One, from “mum and dad” and written on chipboard covering the door, pays tribute to “our much loved handsome son”.

It said: “We miss you so much my darling and always will – life will never be the same without you.

“So very proud of you and especially all of your friends who have made a vigil with lovely flowers and candles all week. Respect to you all!”

It added: “Miss you so much my darling!”

* Lotto Williams, 18 and Christopher Joseph, 21, both from High Wycombe, appeared at Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court charged with Jourdan’s murder on Friday.

Williams, formerly of Belmont Court and Joseph, of Grenfell Avenue were charged on Thursday night after being arrested about an hour after the 11pm attack last Monday.

A 16-year-old was arrested on Friday morning in High Wycombe and bailed the next day until August 18.
