A gang seriously assaulted a 15-year-old school girl in broad daylight and forced her to perform a “chlamydia test”.

The attack happened at about 4pm in Twickenham town centre on Tuesday, March 24, but Richmond police have been unable to contact the girl and no arrests have been made.

A woman who heard about the attack from her worried daughter said: “It was more than a serious incident it was a horrific one.

“One of the school mentors told me the attack made her not want to bring her children up in this world.”

Police said although the assault was serious, and is being treated as actually bodily harm, reports the girl had lost an eye were inaccurate.

Both Richmond Council and Waldegrave School are helping with the investigation, while a spokesman for Orleans Park School said she had not been informed of the incident.

Phillipa Nunn, Waldegrave’s headteacher, said: “Some of our students were involved and we are taking the matter very seriously.”

Detective Sergeant John Turner, from Teddington’s community safety unit, said: “We were called to an assault on a 15-year-old. A chlamydia test was forced on her.

“We are trying to pursue the victim to make a statement.”

Police said officers were going to see the girl’s mother and the victim at the school.

A police spokesman added: “Enquiries are ongoing.

"The information is limited due to the sensitive nature and the needs of the victim being paramount. Police are pursuing statements which may lead to arrests.”
