THE Lee Valley Athletics Centre has scooped a Best Built Award.
The £16 million centre is the largest in the South East and beat buildings such as St Pancras Station to the commendation, presented by London Mayor, Boris Johnson.
Designed by David Morley Architects and built by contractors, it is a UK Athletics Centre of Excellence and boasts one of the few indoor arenas in the country.
Chief executive, Shaun Dawson, said it was a great achievement.
He said: "Simply being nominated in the prestigious London Planning Awards is a huge triumph for everyone involved in this wonderful flagship project.
The building also received a commendation in the Best Built Award presented by London Mayor Boris Johnson at City Hall.
It has also been awarded an A grade Display Energy Certificate because of its very low annual CO2 emission and energy consumption.
A total of 200,000 people have used LVAC since its opening.
