Air ambulance scrambled after man collapses

A HELICOPTER ambulance had to be scrambled this afternoon after a man collapsed in High Wycombe.

Paramedic Marc Lister arrived by car in Micklefield Road after the ambulance service received a call at 3.15pm.

He said the man appeared to be in his 50s: “He was seen to collapse. When I got there he was unconscious and had sustained a head injury.”

Mr Lister said he put the man on a spinal board to prevent him moving and aggravating any injuries to his back.

Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance dispatched a helicopter which landed on the Rye.

However, when the man was brought to the helicopter he was found to be in a fit condition to be moved to Wexham Park Hospital by land.

Glad the man is okay, but why bother landing the air ambulance on the Rye when a land ambulance has to take him from Micklefield Road to the Rye - they might as well just sent him to Wycombe as the ambulance would have only had an extra 500yd trot along the road.

How rediculous and even more rediculous that he was sent all the way to Wexham Park Hospital

Well I hope that the man is okay But they could have taken him to Wycombe - at the very least they would have stabilised him and transfered him to Stoke - what about the golden hour!!
