A NIGHT of religious celebrations has been organised to help a struggling High Wycombe centre for the homeless.

The whyCOME project used to offer a monthly drop in session at the Saint John Memorial Hall in Desborough Road, High Wycombe.

Homeless people could come along for a meal, a change of clothes and help with alcohol and drug problems.

However, the church hall has now been sold, leaving the project itself homeless.

Project director Robert Layman said: “We have 70 to 80 homeless who come in every month and they'll be missing out.

“We won't be able to do it this month and a lot of people will be affected.”

But staff at the centre have taken steps to keep the project afloat.

Mr Layman said the group has organised an “old school praise night” to raise money to rent a new venue.

This will feature singing and food. It will be held at The Pastures church in Downley from 6.30pm on March 21.

Anyone who wants tickets can call Mr Layman on 07766 660 591.
