Off-road bikers raise charity money

OFF-ROAD bikers from across the Chilterns got together this weekend for a charity day of motor sports.
More than 30 members of the Chiltern Hills Enduro Club met on Sunday at a farm near Lane End to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Dave Parker, one of the club directors, said: “They all just came along, got absolutely plastered in mud, we chucked a few burgers on the barbecue and had some donations for the charity.
“It was a brilliant day. The weather was scorching when the sun broke through.
“We used 650 acres which is a colossal amount of land – hills and open space.”
The club's racing season starts again on March 15, with an event at Leigthon Buzzard.
Sunday's event was a way to say thank you to the volunteer marshals, who will be giving up their time to police the races.
Lord Parmoor allowed the club to meet on his land at Moor Farm in Moor Common, and first aid company Pre Med Healthcare provided free ambulance cover and medical training.
All in all the day raised £605, which will be given to a unit at Great Ormond Street hospital which deals with congenital hyperinsulinism.
This is a condition in which a baby's body produces too much insulin, causing brain damage and leading to a coma.
Mr Parker said that the Chiltern Hills Enduro Club donates any profits it makes to charity.
Beneficiaries have included the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, Bucks Search and Rescue, and Skidz – a High Wycombe workshop that provides training for teenagers.
