A FLOWER arranging club has celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special appearance from a national demonstrator.
Linda Shackleton paid the Blackheath Flower Society a visit on Friday at its base in Mycenae Road, Blackheath.
She demonstrated six different types of display to the club's 40 members who went on to tuck into a giant buffet lunch.
As part of its birthday celebrations the club is taking part in the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies' (NAFAS) public display project, The Golden Ribbon Effect.
The club is displaying flowers in banks, libraries and churches around Greenwich and Blackheath.
Society chairwoman Jean Higgs said: "People don't realise how complicated and difficult flower arranging can be.
"There is a lot to it - and a good flower display can really make a wedding or any other ceremony look so much nicer."
