A BIKER who opened fire on his love rival’s house with a shotgun has been jailed indefinitely.

Kevin Craigie, 23, launched the attack after victim Courtney Williams warned him to stop pestering his girlfriend Burcin Tagman.

Craigie, of Beechwood Drive, Woodford Green, first roared up and down outside the flat in Hatch Lane, Chingford, on a stolen Suzuki bike.

But after Mr Williams – who is in his mid 20s – brandished a knife, the biker returned with a loaded gun.

The victim and his mother were forced to dive for cover as the window shattered, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard on Friday.

Prosecutor Sandy Canavan told the court: “He throws himself to the ground, the glass shatters.

"There is also a shot to the front door. Fortunately nobody was injured.”

Craigie, whose previous convictions include assaulting a police officer, common assault, dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking, was arrested three days later, on April 1 last year.

He claimed the shotgun had been buried by friends, which wasted police time.

Officers later discovered a firearm matching the description of Craigie’s weapon at another location.

Judge William Kennedy told Craigie: “Having seen Williams at a window, you discharged the shotgun twice, once at the window and secondly at the door.

“You clearly intended to terrify Williams, but your reaction to seeing him at that window and the obvious effect of discharging a shotgun at it satisfies me that you must have realised that injury could well have been life threatening.”

Judge Kennedy warned Craigie: “I make it entirely clear however that there is not the slightest certainty that you will be freed.”

Craigie admitted possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He must serve a minimum of three years before he can be considered for release.

A charge of attempted murder was ordered to lie on file.
