EAST WICKHAM BY-ELECTION: Close call for Tories

THE British National Party nearly pulled off a shock result in Bexley’s East Wickham by-election.

Tory candidate Steven Hall scraped home to win the seat by just eight votes.

The vote was recounted twice before the result was finally announced at Bexley Council’s civic offices at 12.15am this morning (January 23).

Mr Hall polled 798 votes with Michael Barnbrook (BNP) on 790 votes.

Labour’s Pat Ball came third with 700 votes while the Liberal Democrat candidate Grace Goodlad came fourth with 564 votes.

Laurence Williams (English Democrats) was in last place with 128 votes.

8 votes short is still 8 votes short = BNP FAIL!

Two years ago the BNP would have been lucky to have got 10% of the vote in that ward. This result represents a moral victory for them - a near win against all the odds. Yet I cannot understand why anyone would vote for the Lib-Lab-Cons they, after all, are the people who allowed the banks to screw up the economy. Wasn't it the Tories who started the rot in 1994 when they deregulated the banks - allowing them to exercise their greed virtually unchecked? And wasn't it Labour who maintained the politicians "special relationship" with the banks, carrying on where the Tories left off? The BNP may have its faults but it, unlike the Labour and CONservatives, were not party to, and have no responsibility for, the unfolding economic disaster that threatens to wreck so many lives! It is therefore no surprise that the BNP did so well and I, for one, regret they didn't actually win - I certainly do not want to be represented by one of the tainted "banker-alliance" parties!

I don't think this is as much about banks as this is about immigration and crime. No amount of spinning of statistics can hide the bitterness of people who feel that this country is out of control. Failing to see other solutions they turn to BNP.

Good, decent, honest, folk are just getting fed up with these three party policians who use the electorate as door-mats for their own sleazy, political, corrupt ways... even Jack Straw and Peter Hain (both Labour) have aplogised for breaking Commons rules over cash donations this week - 'they forgot' was their excuse ?? - people just don't trust these politicians anymore!!

At the Obama party in Park Lane Kwami Wossname made a bit of a slip. We are now 40% of London, if we all work together we can have a black Mayor. That's not the script son.

Congratulations Thisislocallondon for reporting the sensational BNP performance in this election.

As you are probably aware, there is no coverage on the BBC website - they regularly black out news of the growing number of phenomenal BNP election performances.

The BNP is regularly hitting 30% of the vote in local elections - how can the BNP be called extremist - more 'mainstreamist' if you ask me! Let's hope the days of the multiculturalist, PC-obsessed, Marxist Lib/Lab/Con trick are coming to a rapid end.

OK, BNP freaks, your time is up. Back to the restraints, medication and padded cells until your next day release from the Institution at the next elections.
