It may not have been by grabbing the Christmas number one spot, but a Streatham Hill rocker will still manage to hit our screens this Christmas Day - by performing a jingle on a special festive advert.
Valentine X, 29, will rock the festive screens along with Jonny Corvette, 29, from Thornton Heath, after winning a national competition to write and star in their own Christmas advert for crisp brand Pringles.
Their song, Pop out the Pringles, wowed the judges, along with their video where they leap around their living room singing their tune and stuffing themselves with the crisps.
The 30 second advert to be broadcast on primetime TV scooped them £2,000 - and the duo - who make up electro-indie glam outfit The XCorvettes - hope some positive exposure for the launch of their first album in February next year.
Jonny, who changed his name by Deed Poll along with his songwriting partner, said: “Making the advert was fun as was writing the jingle - which was just like a writing a song.”
He said their motivation for entering the competition was to try and make money through anything involved with music - as this was their passion and gave them the chance of meeting as many people in the industry as possible.
Jonny, who used to busk with Valentine when they formed their band in 2005, said: “We are struggling musicians who are putting out our own album next year. We do what we can to make money through music and this was a great opportunity for that. Its better than working in dead end jobs.”
