GCSE exams are near and fast approaching. Many students are being left distraught. But through this mess and hubbub, there seems to be a saviour.

Rosie - The Female Calculator

Rosie, previously a renewable energy design engineer — now tutor, has taken to TikTok, under the name of ‘therealfemalecalculator’, to help thousands of teenagers prepare to face intimidating GCSE maths exams. For the past few months, Rosie has used her platform to reach over 20,000 students through weekly TikTok lives. Within these lives, she covers multiple topics that students need help to consolidate their knowledge upon — apart from that, she also goes through GCSE maths past papers, as well as predicted papers.  She may also go through various A-level topics on request by her audience of students.

Many students have felt welcomed through her warm and vibrant community. A community in which they have the chance to both chat and laugh with each other, whilst also covering content that will be quintessential for passing their exams.

Her Joy

As previously mentioned, Rosie had been working as an engineer, until one day she began to explore tutoring. She started tutoring her neighbour’s child and stated that:

When I saw the progress he was making and compared tutoring with engineering, I realised that education was where my heart was.

Since then, Rosie has helped out schools and also began working full-time at a college as a Maths Lecturer.

It is clear that Rosie is an amazing and inspirational figure, who is kind and compassionate; she is willing to help many struggling students to achieve their full potential.

When asked as to how tutoring and helping thousands of students makes her feel, Rosie stated that:

Honestly, it’s the best feeling ever. I have many regular viewers and the community we have built is amazing.

It is clear that Rosie can pursue something she heavily enjoys, whilst also helping many others.

Her Advice

When asked if she had any advice for the many students struggling and overwhelmed with upcoming exams, Rosie stated that:

It is possible to ‘over’ revise and burn out, and thus do more harm than good. Maths is all about practice, and it is much more positive to have fun practising the basics rather than weighing yourself down with past papers. Try to mix past papers up with fun puzzle-solving so that you are still exercising your brain but allowing yourself a break! If you were running a marathon you wouldn’t run 26 miles every day to prepare for it! Any exercise would be helpful and the same applies to Maths in my opinion.

Thank You

Many have been impacted by Rosie’s actions. Her dedication, her will and her strength to continue and help others are impactful. Many students are grateful for her help and believe Rosie to be the reason why they could achieve a higher grade in their GCSE Maths exams.

So what are you waiting for? Come on, join the fun with Rosie!
