The Felix Project is a charity that aims to end London’s hunger crisis by rescuing surplus produce from the food industry that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste. The Felix Project, which was set up by Justin Byam Shaw, in memory of his son Felix, who died suddenly from Meningitis in 2014, is launching a campaign where they call on London restaurants to help raise funds by signing up to “The Felix Project’s Restaurants Feed London.”

How does it work?

Participation in Restaurants Feed London is straightforward. Throughout the nine-week campaign, which commences on World Hunger Day, May 28, 2024, and ends on July 31, 2024, restaurants are encouraged to add an optional £1 donation to their customer’s bills which will go towards making a profound difference in the lives of many across the capital by distributing healthy and delicious food to organisations working to support Londoners facing food insecurity.

How much is needed?

Sadly, the need is huge, London has a hunger crisis. According to research 1.2 million adults in London live in food insecurity and 1 in 4 working parents regularly struggle to afford to feed their families.

What is the aim of the campaign?

Last year the Felix Project ran the campaign for the first time and helped to provide 91,000 meals for Londoners in need. This year they aim to partner with more restaurants, raise money and deliver more meals. Every £100 collected translates to 290 meals distributed to community organisations, extending crucial support to individuals in some of London's most deprived areas.
