Climate change is a word used very regularly about the things happening in the word with sea levels rising and temperatures increasing as well. Although it is used quite frequently, some people are confused as to what is the cause of climate change?

The use of factories produces an immense amount of toxic chemicals such as carbon dioxide and methane. Due to this, the air becomes polluted with smoke, causing people to breathe the fumes in and have potential health issues. The UK has worked extremely hard with reducing the amount of factories in the area, creating a nice and smoke free environment.

Another huge factor contributing to climate change is the cutting of forests, particular the Amazon forest. With forests producing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, the cutting of them has caused a rise in carbon dioxide levels. This is called ‘deforestation’ and can have many consequences such as disruption of the water cycle, drought and global warming.

Transport is found to also be a large factor, as they produce fossil fuels (greenhouse gasses) causing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to be higher rate. With the rise of people using electric cars, this reduces the amount of carbon dioxide.

In conclusion there are many causes of climate change, but the main thing we can do to prevent this is recycling items such as plastic paper and glass. Although it is costly to purchase an electric car, the long term benefits are there is less cost and easier to maintain. If everyone makes small adjustments to their lifestyle, it can cause a global effect and help the environment.
