Ben and Jerry's Summer Sundae festival arrives at Clapham Common this weekend, bringing with it a bunch of brilliant bands, free ice cream, old-fashioned helter skelters, a petting farm and possibly either Ben or Jerry making an appearance.

Northern Irish indie favourites Ash are headlining on Sunday, ahead of the Lemonheads and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. We spoke to drummer Rick McMurray about his most memorable festival moments.

Glastonbury, 1995: "This was one of our first ones but it was the most memorable. It was just before Girl From Mars came out and it was just getting played on Radio One, and I think Tim Wheeler, frontman had just left school three days before. We were just on the cusp of things, so it was a pretty mental one. It was a mind-blowing rise from leaving school to being there."

Reading, 2001: "Free All Angels (2001 album) had just come out and we were headlining the main tent - it was pretty awesome. It was weird because it was the year that the NME did a big campaign to get The Strokes on to the main stage. They were below us on the bill and we'd had a few ups and downs at that point and people were ready to right us off. But the reaction was mindblowing. I've never seen a tent that rammed! There were thousands of people there."

Benicassim, Spain 2001/04: "Benicassim is amazing. It's so hot during the day so the bands don't start until later on. Then it goes on all night. I can't decide between 2001 or 2004, but it's always a great set up. We've played there with Snow Patrol, who we know quite well from Northern Ireland as well. And we've played with the Flaming Lips. I got roped in to setting up stage with Wayne Coyne, Flaming Lips frontman, and he had me putting drapes up - they're very DIY. It comes from the years when they were underground and had to do everything themselves."

Botanical Gardens, Belfast, 2004: "We've done a few festivals back home in Northern Ireland. We've played there with The Darkness and supported U2 on their Pop Tour."

Z008 Festival: "This one was just the other week and was pretty weird. It all seemed to go to total chaos. The security walked off at one point because they hadn't been paid, the stage manager got fired, then half an hour later he'd been reinstated! But it ended up being a good gig."
