For many people the new year brings joy, excitement and new expectations into their hearts. The new year gives everyone a chance to begin a new journey and correct their past mistakes. This is what makes new year's day so special.

A few days ago, we all got the wonderful chance to celebrate the new year with our friends and families with very minimal Covid-19 restrictions. London and many other cities across the world did not hesitate to blast their skies with absolutely awe- striking firework displays.

By now, many may have written their new year resolutions but may be wondering how else they can welcome the new year and start the year strong. In this article, I will share some of my own tips on how to welcome the new year, as well as some other people's too.

A year 10 student, Anisha Polu, explained how she has welcomed the new year into her life this year. ''I have welcomed the new year as an opportunity to make myself a better person and start anew. Anything that I wished I could do better last year, I will strive to do better this year. 2023 for me marks a change in myself, my personality and my actions.''

To me, the new year is the perfect time to do anything that you did not manage to do in the previous year. I also love to hope that this year will be a better and more fun filled year for us all. Personally, I love to make wish lists on new year's day and then as the year progresses I will tick off what I have done. This never fails to bring a smile to my face. The new year is also a great time to start some new, long term projects. These projects will keep you busy and happy for the rest of the year, especially when all your hard work forms a beautiful end result. I also highly recommend that you plan your days and reflect on them. This is because a planned life will always lead to a healthier life.

I hope this year will be a wonderful year for us all!
