ST PATRICK'S Day was celebrated in style this year in Bexley with a fundraising civic event and a tour of primary schools.
Bexley mayor Councillor Nigel Betts hosted the celebrations at the civic offices in Bexleyheath Broadway on March 14.
They included live Irish music played on an assortment of traditional instruments, including the tin whistle.
There was also dancing from the Courtney Mahon School of Irish Dance in Bexley, and a disco.
The evening raised £1,700 for the mayor's Stepping Out Appeal, to provide respite activities for young carers.
Twenty dancers from the dance school also attended a series of assemblies at five Bexley primary schools on St Patrick's Day on March 17, where they showed off their skills.
All the children at each of the schools have been offered a free taster dance session.
The dancers also performed at a lunch held in the Falconwood Community Centre, The Green, Welling, organised by charity Irish in Greenwich.
