The company, Insulate Britain have been blocking the roads with their earliest protest occurring in mid September in order to push the agenda of a national scheme to make homes low energy and low carbon by 2030. It also states on their website that they want the government to fund all houses being insulated by 2025. Insulate Britain’s recent movements have been caused by the fact that not much progress has been made towards insulating homes and switching to low-carbon heating (this would mean the increase in renewable energies use and therefore fewer fossil fuels) which in turn would slow the effects of climate change.

The company’s actions have resulted in many civilians’ daily lives being disturbed and major roads such as the M1, M4, and the M25 recently, obstructing people from travelling to their jobs and taking children to school. Multiple clips on social media have shown irritated drivers taking matters into their own hands and forcibly moving the protestors from blocking the roads, police have started to take action also and have arrested multiple individuals for the disruption of the roads.

Although Boris Johnson has publicly shown his dislike towards Insulate Britain’s actions, with the COP26 climate change conference happening, change may happen regarding homes in the UK in order to attempt to tackle climate change and its effects.
