A company director has been handed 55 hours community service for drink driving while already disqualified.

Pepe Oberoi, of Kew Foot Road, pleaded guilty at Richmond Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to driving an Aston Martin on Lower Mortlake Road while he was disqualified and over the alcohol limit.

The court heard that Oberoi, 51, was spotted driving the £80,000 car without any lights on in the early hours of last Thursday.

Prosecutor Mrs Franks said Oberoi was disqualified for two years in 2006 after committing a drink driving offence.

In mitigation Mr Levitt said Oberoi is the director of a concierge service, Europorsche 2000, and had been picking up a "valuable" client's car from the car park at Manor Road Sainsburys. Oberoi was bringing it back to his home where he also operates his business.

He added: "He drove the car a very short distance because he did not want the car left there - it was collected because of safety reasons."

The court heard Oberoi has been in business for 30 years and employs drivers to pick up cars.

Sentencing him to three years disqualification and 55 hours unpaid community work, chair of the bench Mrs Clarke said Oberoi had "put other road users at risk" through his actions.
