A TEENAGER who was left paralysed from the neck down following a trampoline accident has launched a legal battle for compensation of more than £300,000.

Jack Firmin, 17, of Warrengate Road, Brookmans Park, was playing on a trampoline at a party with a group of six friends when one of the boys landed on his head, breaking his neck.

Now Jack, who sues through his father Michael Firmin, is claiming damages from Piers and Stella Rankin, owners of the property where the accident happened on March 11 last year.

A writ issued at London's High Court says Mr and Mrs Rankin were inside their house Winchmore Hill, London, having dinner while Phillip Rankin and his friends were playing on the trampoline.

It says that up to six boys at a time were playing on the trampoline in the dark, and they were not supervised or warned that only one at a time should use the trampoline.

Since the accident, the Jack Firmin Trust has been set up to raise money for Jack, and within months the trust had raised £42,000 to buy him a special electronic wheelchair.
