The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in Sutton has announced a new three-year partnership with Banham to sponsor their annual fundraising event, The Marsden March.

The announcement was made at the Banham's headquarters in Earsfield.

The Banham Marsden March, as it will now be known, will take place on March 10 in 2019 for its ninth year.

This year, due to route changes thousands of supporters, patients, family, friends and hospital staff will be going the extra mile and walking 15 miles from Chelsea to Sutton, or the existing five-mile route from King George’s Playing Fields in Morden to The Royal Marsden in Sutton.

Over the last eight years this event has raised over £11.8 million.

Banham have sponsored The Marsden March since 2015, and their new sponsorship deal will see them involved with the event until 2021.

Banham employees have taken part in the march every year since 2015 and in 2018, their team of 101 walkers, the event’s biggest team that year, raised over £27,000.

Charles Hallatt, Banham’s executive chairman, said: "Banham have proudly supported The Marsden March for four consecutive years and are delighted to announce a further three-year sponsorship for The Banham Marsden March. We are committed to raising awareness for this incredibly important cause, which provides patients across the country with vital care at the world-leading cancer centre.

“I am thrilled that over 300 members of 'Team Banham' have taken part in the March to date, raising over £96,000, and we all look forward to walking again at next year's event.”

Antonia Dalmahoy, managing director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Banham for their generous sponsorship and ongoing support of The Banham Marsden March.

"Every year, their team of walkers have joined our thousands of patients, staff, family and friends, all coming together to raise money for the world-class treatment and care taking place at The Royal Marsden that benefits cancer patients across the UK and around the world.

"We look forward to continuing to work with the Banham team to make the 2019 event another great day."
