The Butterfly’s Spell

London’s floating theatre presents a puppet show for adults. A young poet beetle falls in love with an injured butterfly, a creature from outside his own realm. The other insects around him are disturbed: some try to persuade him to be sensible and remain in his own sphere, but others realise that the need to follow one’s heart’s desire, into the imagination, may be the only way to freedom.

Velvet Petal by Scottish Dance Theatre

This intimate dance work explores the transformative power of beauty, created out of whatever is on the bedroom floor. Inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s Polaroids and the life cycle of the monarch butterfly, the dancers experiment, seduce and philosophise through their bodies and clothing, bringing us into a space of fluid identity. The dance is set to a dance-punk score arranged by Torben Lars Sylvest including music by LCD Soundsystem, Spoek Mathambo, Four Tet and Abul Mogard.

Flight by Nisha Duggal

The African Market

Returning to Camden Market for a summer of African activities will be Open The Gate and their African Market, showcasing talented designers, authentic cuisine, traditional fashion and craft pieces. Hackney Record Fair

If you fancy getting your paws on some vinyl, this is the place to do it. Hackney Record Fair provides a unique opportunity for independent labels, record vendors, and used hifi dealers to sell directly to the fans who love them. On the day visitors can dig through hundreds of crates of vinyl from over 50 stalls, including indie record labels, record stores, used/collector/hifi dealers, local vinyl enthusiasts, and a record cleaning service. In addition to the tons of vinyl, there will be DJ sets throughout the day, a bakery, and a record cleaning service. So, come hunt for rare vinyl records, discover new independent labels, grab a bite to eat, and have the rare record you’ve unearthed restored to its former glory.

Shadows and Stories Family Afternoon

Celebrate the European Day of Jewish Culture with a range of storytelling and craft activities, including shadow puppetry, folk tales, magnetic word wall and much more. The Craft Half

The Craft Half is a half marathon with a tasty difference – runners will be rewarded with half pints of craft beer at fuelling stations every two miles.
