BBC *****
This series from 1970 was the second to combine the comic genius of Eric, Ernie... and Eddie. Braben, that is, the scriptwriter who accompanied Morecambe and Wise through what is now fondly remembered as their golden age.
The material is excellent, with most of the familiar trademarks in place, and the good news is that there's a great deal here that hasn't become over-familiar through endless recycling.
Also, it's good to see the shows as they were intended, rather than edited into compilations of the "best bits".
Guests taking their cues in some of Ern's awful amateur theatricals include Fenella Fielding and Richard (Robin Hood) Greene.
