Richmond’s daredevil mayor is to plunge 15,000ft through the air during a skydiving challenge to raise funds for charity, and is looking for others to join his team.

Ben Khosa will take part in the jump to raise money for his mayoral charity, Refuge Richmond.

The charity works with people in the borough who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence or abuse. Refuge offer emergency housing and community based support.

He will be taking to the air in early next year and is keen to recruit a team of other eager fundraisers to join him in his challenge.

Councillor Khosa, said: “This is going to be an adrenaline-filled experience and it is something I’ve never done before.

“However, I’m really looking forward to it and delighted to be continuing to raise money for my charity which do excellent work in the local area.

“I hope others will be keen to come on board and take part in this exciting and once in a life time opportunity.”

The Sky Dive will happen in the spring 2019. Fundraisers will be attached to a fully qualified instructor who controls the jump from start to finish. Full training and equipment will be provided.

Those keen to sign up need to raise a minimum of £300 – to cover the cost of the sky dive and will be invited to a ‘team meeting’ with the mayor in the autumn to discuss fundraising.
