A temporary pop up design shop has opened in Mortlake and will stay open until August 23.

The shop, Pop Up: LDN, was opened in Sheen Lane by Ruth Brown, a recent graduate of the Glasgow School of Arts and independent jewellery designer, in the hope of promoting contemporary British craft.

This temporary addition will showcase a unique range of innovative work from graphic design to illustration and ceramics by independent designers alongside Ruth’s own Jewellery collection.

Ruth Brown said: “There are really exciting things happening at the moment in terms of British design.

“I see all of the amazing work that is coming out of art schools in the UK, but as a creative start up, it is really difficult to get a platform from which to launch your business, particularly when you are making contemporary art jewellery as I -and so many of my peers- are.”

Ruth exhibits nationally, and is currently working towards her first international exhibition since graduating. The inspiration stems from Ruth’s passion of supporting small businesses and the promotion of independent creatives.

Ruth’s creativity is inspired by distorted and fragmented reflections in the urban environment, exploring illusion and perception. She works primarily in precious metals and resin.
