A woman from Welling has described her shock at running a bath for the morning only to find the water had turned yellow.

Rachael Howard, who lives in Lodge Hill, told News Shopper she turned on the tap in the bath this morning (Thursday) and the water ran clear.

However, when she ran a second bath, the water came out discoloured - which raised concerns.

Just the day before, residents across Bexley and Greenwich were left without water or with very little water pressure for almost the entire day.

"I assume the water had come back on overnight because it was coming through ok this morning," Mrs Howard said.

But when she drew the second bath of the morning, she was confused at the quality of the water coming through.

"It's just not very nice," she said.

After complaining to Thames Water about the problem, the company assured her the murky water was completely normal and can often happen after water repairs.

A spokeswoman explained: "When works go ahead the mains vibrate which can cause the sediments in the water pipes to mix with the water.

"These sediments are in the supplies all the time but only when works go on they will mix with the water."

They added the water was completely harmless, and can be avoided if people stop running the tap for a short time.
