An upset mum who got a parking charge after leaving a leisure centre late because she was breastfeeding her baby has won her fight - thanks to News Shopper.

Keiley Lacey, 33, was out with her three-month-old son for the first time when she took her two-year-old daughter to her first swimming lesson at Sidcup Leisure Centre on July 5.

She bought a two-hour parking ticket and says she was back in the car park with 10 minutes to spare.

Keiley, who lives in Sidcup, said: “I was loading the car with swimming and food bags and my toddler had a massive breakdown.

“I gave her a snack and the baby started screaming. I thought I had five minutes left so I quickly breastfed him.

“It was the first time I had been out with my new baby and I was really flustered.”

She said driving home while her baby was in such discomfort would have been unsafe.

Keiley left the leisure centre 15 minutes over her limit, resulting in her being sent a £60 charge from car park management company ParkingEye.

The mum sent an appeal to “explain how it was an honest mistake”, but this was rejected so she paid the money.

“I am obviously furious and I tried to make the situation clear,” she said. “It was heartbreaking and I told my husband I have been fined for breastfeeding my baby."

News Shopper contacted ParkingEye and made multiple attempts to get a comment after Keiley got in touch with us.

Minutes before the final deadline we set the company for a response on whether the charge would stand, we were told it was being overturned.

A spokeswoman for ParkingEye said: “We have refunded the parking charge in this instance and apologise to the customer for any distress caused.”
