A Bromley mum has become embroiled in a row with a music trust after she was allegedly told to stop parking on their premises.

Rebecca Maleed, 32, of Mosul Road, drops her six-year-old disabled child off at Southborough Primary School but often is unable to get there on time to park inside the school gates before they shut.

She says this is because she has to take her other children to different schools in the borough first.

Her son, Leighton, has encephalomalacia, is registered blind and suffers seizures.

The mum’s usual routine is to park at the adjacent Bromley Youth Music Trust before walking Leighton to the school.

However, after claiming her parking permit to use the site flew out of her car window on the motorway, Rebecca said the trust will no longer allow her to park there.

She told News Shopper: “They were really rude recently. They said they don’t have to let me park there. But this is for my vulnerable son.

“The last straw was when the woman said if I got up ten minutes earlier I would make the school gates on time.

“She called me lazy. I tried to explain I had other children to take to school and that’s why I don’t make it. She just said she doesn’t care because they don’t have to allow me to park there.

"I find it absolutely disgraceful. Don’t tell me when to get up. I get up at 6am and you shouldn’t speak to people like that.”

Rebecca said she was shocked and upset after the incident and claimed she managed to stay cool and not be rude back.

The mum travels to Trinity Primary School to drop off her daughter before making the trip to Southborough Lane. She believes it is not safe to park on the busy main road because of her son's conditions.

Rebecca said the maximum time she parks on the premises is 10 minutes.

A manager at Bromley Youth Music Trust told News Shopper: “We have given Southborough Primary School a number of parking allocations.

“Upon request we gave one to Rebecca and have been more than helpful. She then came a little while ago and asked for an additional one for her ex-husband.

“We said she already has one and she said the permit flew out of her window. We told her to speak to the school because she can use the disabled bay which is on their site.”

The spokeswoman also said Rebecca is more than welcome to park there when school starts up again in September if she can arrange it with the school.

She added: “I can’t comment on any conversations she had with people in the office as I wasn’t there. But I wouldn’t expect any staff to call her lazy.”
