A terminally ill woman is making the most of the time she has left to leave a legacy for her charity.

Ann-Marie Wilson from High Barnet was told by doctors that she has four years left to live - yet that hasn't stopped her trying to make the most of it.

Diagnosed with Lymphatic cancer in 2015, the 55-year-old said: “I have always been an active person.

"I did the British 10k and the Tough Mudder but I was due to do the Brighton Marathon until I was diagnosed.

"That ended my marathon journey and started my journey with chemotherapy."

Ann-Marie founded 28 Too Many - named after the 28 countries in Africa that still practice FGM.

Finishing her last bouts of chemotherapy, Ann-Marie has organised a wheelchair marathon of 28 miles through London to make up for the one she lost when she was diagnosed.

She said: "It's about leaving a legacy.

"I want to help leave the charity in good hands when im gone and make sure we can keep going."

Her marathon will involve volunteers, close friends and her god children each pushing her one mile from Barnet to central London then back again.

Money raised by the Wheelchair Marathon will be used to continue funding the production of the last 14 of 28 reports on FGM in each country the charity deals with.

Losing both her parents to cancer when she was in her 20’s, Ann-Marie has also been investing her precious time at the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead.

She said: “You have to find joy in life, everywhere you look, it could be flowers, a good meal or the sunshine, beauty and joy is everywhere.”

Ann-Marie became an ordained minister in July 2017 by Rt. Rev Rob Wickham, the Bishop of Edmonton.

She added: “God decides when you are born and when you die.

“When you’re on a plane or a mountain and you look out you realise your problems are so small.

“You just got to go and enjoy the rest.”

She said: “We do hope people will come and support us on the day and help fill our buckets.”
