Workers at a care home in Sidcup rallied around their eldest resident to celebrate her 105th birthday this month.

Helen Confrey, born on June 6, 1913, was thrown a birthday party complete with cake and an Elvis impersonator at the Northbourne Court Care Home in Sidcup.

Carers and old friends came to visit Helen to celebrate her milestone with an afternoon birthday bash.

Geoff Webb, who works at the care home, said Helen had a "lovely day." He added she was especially chuffed with her letters from the Queen and London mayor, Sadiq Khan.

Helen, who has lived through two world wars, was orphaned at a young age and has no siblings or children.

"We're like her family now," Geoff told News Shopper.

"Helen has had a good long life and is still enjoying it."
