TESCO Express in Station Road, Hayes, is the best in the UK for making sure its unsold food goes to charities and community groups.

The store topped the table of donations to good causes from Tesco convenience stores in a scheme run with the charity, FareShare.

Every Tesco Express in the UK is able to donate its surplus food at the end of the day – but no store has donated as much as Station Road.

Tesco Head of Community Alec Brown said: “We firmly believe that no food that is fit to eat should go to waste.

“Our Hayes store has been at the forefront of that and the whole team should be really proud of this achievement.”
