Drivers in Sidcup have been warned once again to double-check the safety of their vehicles after more thefts have been reported.

Over the last few days, police from the Sidcup ward said they have mainly dealt with car crime and have urged drivers to secure their cars with steering wheel locks.

A van owner who parked his van on Cray Road on Tuesday evening woke up this morning (Wednesday) to find it had gone.

On Sunday, a locked motorbike in a car park on Footscray High Street had the battery taken from it. That evening, a BMW parked on The Park was stolen, with broken glass found where it had been.

Police also received a report that a Volkswagen had been rifled through on Warwick Road while parked. After investigating, it was found that no damage had been caused to the car and nothing had been stolen from it.

Officers in the area have reminded drivers to check their vehicles are locked when leaving them, and have urged them to consider taking extra measures to ensure the security of their cars.
