A century-old 70-foot tree has been removed after being hit by lightning
The cedar tree, in Leybourne Close, Bromley, came down overnight and caused damage to cars.
It had been inspected in March 2017 and was in a “healthy and good” condition.
A spokesman from Bromley Council said: “This is a sad day for local residents who enjoyed the magnificence of this mature cedar tree and a stark reminder of just what a potent force our weather can be.
Gristwood and Toms, the council’s tree care contractors, started clearing up the tree this morning.
