A former Shirley school student has continued his rise in the footballing world.

Bryce Hosannah joined Leeds United this past August from Crystal Palace and has been rewarded for his form in the under 23s with a brand new two year contact that will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2020.

The right back who left Trinity School in 2015 said: "It has been a really positive season, I have really improved as a player and now I am really looking forward to pushing on.

"Leeds is a massive club and has a reputation for bringing through young players to the first team, like you’ve seen this season with how many players have done this and hopefully I can be one of the next few to come through.”

Although it has been three years since Hosannah attended the Shirley Park school, his teachers certainly haven't forgotten about him.

Matt Richbell, head of sport at Trinity, said: “Bryce is a very talented footballer, you could see his potential whilst he was here working his way through the year groups and often playing for the year above.

"He and Sam Woods (now at Crystal Palace) were the spine of a really good side.

"I am so pleased to see that he has signed a new contract with Leeds.

"We remember him fondly here and hope that he gets to play regularly in the Championship, it is a very challenging division so will be a fantastic test for him."
