Two thugs from Bexley have been jailed for a total of eight years after a "random, motiveless attack" on a 25 year old man in Crayford.

Jack Siksnys, 23, of Ruskin Road, Belvedere and Greg Wenham, 36, of Brook Street, Erith were sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, May 9.

Wenham pleaded guilty to the charge of GBH with Intent and was handed a jail term of three and a half years. Following a trial, Siksnys was also found guilty and jailed for four and a half years.

The court heard that police were called to Green Place in Crayford on Saturday, November 18, 2017, in the early hours of the morning to reports of a group of men attacking another man.

Police believed the victim had been chased down the street by a group of men who tackled him to the floor and attacked him. He was taken to hospital by paramedics who attended the scene and treated for multiple fractures to the face.

He has since had to have several operations to repair the damage caused by the attack.

Both Siksnys and Wenham were arrested at the scene and charged on the same day.

DCI Lesley Hamilton of Bexley CID said: "This was a truly disgraceful and brutal assault on a young man who was simply enjoying a night out.

"The injuries he suffered were so significant that he required a number of surgical treatments in hospital.

"I hope some comfort can be taken in the fact that my officers have worked diligently in bringing the offenders to justice.

"Today’s court result is a testament to their hard work and demonstrates our officers continued determination to bring those responsible for committing crime to account."

DC Lauren Trenholm, an investigating officer in the case, said: : "The bringing of this case to court and the sentences handed down today clearly demonstrate that police and the community working together results in criminals being removed from our streets and placed before the courts.”
