Wallington’s David Weir roared to a record breaking eighth Virgin Money London Marathon men’s T54 wheelchair title.

The 38-year-old, six-time Paralympic gold medallist won in one hour 31.15 minutes pipping Switzerland's Marcel Hug in second place with American Daniel Romanchuk coming in third.

Weir had previously held the record for the most London Marathon wheelchair titles after winning for the seventh time last year.

David Weir said: "At the beginning I felt a little bit nervous to be honest, it was a little bit hot and that's why I lifted my visor up to get some air and to cool down a bit, but I'm really happy this year."
