Unless you have currently been living in a hole, most of us all know of the impending two year negotiations concerning Brexit, and thus the possibilities of a looming prospect of another referendum- a second Scottish Referendum is also in the talks.

What would this actually mean though? There is no set date or even a promise that there will be another Scottish Independence Referendum, despite the various articles alluding to the concept of a referendum; citing the  44.7% of voters voting for independence more than enough reason coupled with Brexit. Opinions upon this matter probably range from those anxious to be Independent considering that in the Brexit votes, 62% of Scotland voted remain, the nation highest in Great Britain who voted to remain.

If Scotland did leave it would impact the UK's economic situation but a more significant change politically as Scotland are more labour. But what do residents of Scotland think? This month I interviewed a Scottish seventeen year old resident, an age that if there is another referendum, they can vote.  Upon being asked 'What are your thoughts on the possibilities of another Scottish Referendum' he replied: I used to think that after Brexit, Scotland would definitely have another referendum, but the Brexit was pretty soft so I don't think it's very likely any more.  It is unlikely another referendum will take place recently, yet the possibility is still there especially in the coming years as Brexit negotiations are finalised.

Later, I questioned  what he would vote if there was another referendum. He said 'No, I'd vote to remain, I think it's far too optimistic. I don't think Scotland would run as well without support from the English community and government. Yet the idea is that the Nordic countries are doing well so Scotland has a shot too.'

At this, I was surprised; I thought following Brexit Scottish residents would vote for independence, however evidently from this perspective it was not the case although opinions would differ depending on age.  Following that, I asked if he thought Scottish Independence would impact life much, and if so how, him replying 'I actually don't think it would change much for most of the population, although development would slow down so for the economy it's probably bad. But for the people who don't really interact with that probably don't care. Whether Scotland becomes independence or not, personally I think Scotland feels pretty separate from England.'

Of course, this is merely one opinion. In the end, no matter what happens if Scotland becomes independent on not, maybe not much of us will actually feel the difference or even care. We will remain stuck in our little holes and little worlds minding our own lives.  Yet no matter where we hide,  Brexit is happening. Scottish Independence could also happen.

Change is everywhere. Every second, every minute, every day, and the clock of life ticks on.
