For nearly two decades, Angela Callow has had to fight off not one, not two but three bouts of cancer.

This bravery she showed lit a fire under her son Nigel Callow, who pledged to do all that he could to support the hospice that helped his mother out in her time of need.

"After the way St Christopher’s looked after mum in 1999, I pledged that I would support them for as long as possible," Mr Callow said.

"I first came into contact with the hospice when my mother, Angela, received respite care at the hospice having been diagnosed with cancer.

"I was so appreciative of how the staff looked after her, that I wanted to give something back to them."

That was when he stumbled across the Bluebell Walk.

Ever since then, the 45-year-old has taken part in the biannual event.

Now for the 11th straight time he will be lacing up his walking shoes to take part in this year's event.

“I’ll be doing the Bluebell walk with my dad, who has joined me for the fun walks since 2013," Mr Callow said.

"Mum, who has now survived three battles with cancer, will also be there to cheer us on and enjoy the event, which will be a great way for us to all show our support the hospice.”

Matron at St Christopher's, Anne Nash said today (April 19) was the last day to register online for the event.

“If you sign-up to the Bluebell walk and do a little bit of fundraising, it means we are able to be there when we are needed for families like Nigel’s, and thousands of others in your local community," she said

"Please sign-up today - it’s in a beautiful part of Kent, it’s good exercise, and it helps to keep our hospice running.”
