A school is raising money for the restoration of a swimming pool that has been in use by them for over half a century.
Cromer Road Primary School, New Barnet, will start a charity fundraiser to provide funds to refurbish their pool.
Simon Stancombe a parent governor at the school has said: “We are incredibly lucky to have a pool in which all the children get to swim in at least once a week, however, after about fifty years it’s seen better days.”
The school is launching, ‘The year of the pool’ at an assembly on March 28 which will be the start of a year-long fundraising campaign.
Mr Stancombe said: “The whole school is getting behind this to raise money to improve what we have, ensuring that future generations of children have the opportunity to learn to swim.
“Swimming is probably the only thing they’ll learn during their school days that could possibly save theirs or somebody else life.”
