In last week’s Watford Observer Mayor Thornhill once again tries to give the kiss of life to the Metropolitan Line Extension and hopes she can resuscitate it. Mayor Thornhill then tells us she and others are working to find a solution which can be supported by all those involved.
How much more of Watford ratepayers’ money does Mayor Thornhill intend to throw down the drain? We have already seen £9.6 million of ratepayers’ money spent on this project. Now Mayor Thornhill wants Watford ratepayers to cough up more money on what she describes as a different solution.
It’s ok for Mayor Thornhill to come up with more solutions like tram, light rail or guided bus, but it’s not her money that fuels this saga or other solutions, it’s Watford ratepayers’ money she is using. So, Mayor Thornhill, stop throwing more good money after bad and stop using ratepayers’ money on something that is for the benefit of people living outside Watford.
