For the fourth time in the past two weeks I have seen a young lad nearly get hit by cars (twice it was my car). He continually swerves all over the road, completely unaware of anything around him, because he is wearing those stupid earphones and can’t hear anything else.

I was going to overtake him on Monday morning this week but knew what he was likely to do, and sure enough he pulled straight across the road in front of me, causing a car coming in the opposite direction to swerve onto the kerb. Any other driver who had not seen this lad before would have hit him.

When is it going to become law not to wear those earphones and headsets? Even pedestrians walk out into the road because they are too busy messing with their music or on the phone. Does somebody need to be killed first? Not to mention the trauma to us drivers when we hit someone, and it certainly is not our fault. Surely parents should tell their children to be aware when they are out. It’s bad enough that they can’t hear a vehicle coming up behind them, but that could just as easily be a person about to attack them in this day and age.
