Alzheimer’s Society is excited to announce the return of its deliciously indulgent Cupcake Day on June 14, 2018. We’re urging people in Harrow to join us with families, friends and colleagues by baking or buying cupcakes to raise vital funds for research and services.

Cupcake Day brings people together to rise against dementia. Whether it’s an excuse to organise a get together, show off that creative cooking flair or get the kids involved - we are calling bakers in north west London to whip up a storm and help us beat dementia.

You don’t have to be a cook book pro to take part – if your cake arrives with a soggy bottom, a burnt edge or a perfectly iced top, it doesn’t matter. The important thing is it gets to the table.

Dementia is set to be the 21st Century’s biggest killer and will affect one million people by 2021. Across Harrow it is estimated that almost 2,700 people are living with the condition and 850,000 are affected UK-wide. Each cupcake will help us find a cure, improve care and offer support and understanding to people affected.

Last year, cupcakers in North West London raised more than £21,000 for Cupcake Day and this year we want to raise even more. By taking part in 2018, you won’t just be helping to create a better world for the people living with dementia today, but also to find a cure for tomorrow. Just £12 could run a session creating 10 Dementia Friends, while £100 could fund an adviser on our National Dementia Helpline for a day.

Whether you choose to celebrate Cupcake Day on June 14 or mark the occasion another time, there is no excuse not to get involved. Now is the time to dust off those baking bowls, whip out the whisks and turn up the heat on dementia.
