A group of Girlguides were honoured for their achievements both big and small.

Girguides from around north London were honoured at the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards in Millfield Theatre, Edmonton, on February 21 for their various achievements in serving their community.

Three of the recipients of a £250 cheque, medallion and certificate were from the Barnet area and have all excelled in different ways to achieve their prizes.

Emma Bowley, 24, who attends a Girguiding unit in Hendon, received the grant for her work as a young leader and first aider, and will put her £250 towards a winter residential trip for the unit.

Isobel Nethercoat, 13, attends a unit in Barnet and is already undertaking leadership training and fundraising for the unit, while Freya Gold, 12, represented her unit in Finchley at the Lord Mayor's show, and is now a patrol leader, welcoming and supporting new members.

Janet Taylor, county president for Guides ME said: "The Guides ME awards ceremony was very inspiring and I was proud to see so many young guides and leaders having achieved so much.

"It was an honour to present them with their award."
