A care home celebrated Chinese New Year by making fortune cookies and decorating its rooms in bright colours.
Residents at Rowanweald Residential and Nursing Home, in Harrow Weald, designed their own paper ‘cookies’ and filled them with special messages to celebrate the year of the dog.
They all cheered ‘Kung Hei Fat Choy’ to ring in the New Year and learnt about the importance of the festival.
Lillian Galpern, who lives at the home, said: “I travelled all over the world for 21 years – China was very nice.”
She handed out a special compliment to activities assistant Elaine Rivers in her cookie. Elsewhere, nurse Sergiu Sabou was made king for the day.
To complete the festivities, the rooms at the home were decorated with brightly-coloured homemade decorations.
Elaine said: “Our residents love themed celebrations. We have celebrated Chinese New Year here at Rowanweald for the past few years and it’s always something our residents, and the whole team, look forward to.”
