EALING Southall MP Virendra Sharma has joined the campaign group Back Heathrow in supporting Heathrow expansion.

Mr Sharma and Parmjit Dhanda, Executive Director of Back Heathrow, came together to show their support for a new runway.

They launched a new mobile billboard promoting the value of new jobs, better transport links and more apprenticeships from expanding the UK’s largest port.

The MP’s support is in line with the stance of Ealing Council, which wants to see its residents benefit from Heathrow expansion.

This is in contrast to a consortium of councils, including Hillingdon, Windsor & Maidenhead and Richmond, which are vehemently against a third runway.

Back Heathrow’s Mr Dhanda said: “I’m delighted that Virendra is backing the campaign.

“Residents understand how important Heathrow is for the local economy, not just for those who work directly at the airport but also those who work in the surrounding area or in the supply chain.

Mr Sharma said: “We cannot miss this opportunity to expand Heathrow. It will create thousands of new jobs in Ealing and tens of thousands across London.”
